Bullying is a factor proverb

Bullying is a factor in many, if not all, incidents of school violence. If I hear of a shooting in a school, I can immediately describe the shooter because they are predominately white males, have access to guns, and they feel unconnected, left out, shut out.

Bullying is a national problem. Middle school seems to be the time that bullying (by males) and relational aggression (by females) is at its worst and is most painful for kids. While there are programs to help curb bullying, we're hoping to help teachers build character in fourth and fifth grade students to prevent bullying in middle school.

In every incidence of a school shooting, bullying was involved.

As far as violence goes, school is school. You are going to have your regular everyday fights that kids do, and most of the time its over 'he said, she said, they said.' But we really haven't seen a real increase in violence. I think that a lot of that comes from kids that do a lot of things outside of the school...schools are no more unsafe than they were 10 years ago.

One more report on school violence and one more conference on school safety won't make a single American school safer.

It has to end. Our students need to feel safe in school, ... Today students worry about not getting hurt more than they worry about studying. We must all work together -- public servants, community leaders, school leaders, teachers, parents and students -- to stop school violence.

Middle school is like Lord of Flies. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. Bullying is not just picking on each other -- good friends can tease which is not done in a mean spirited way. But the ramification of bullying is profound and can result in depression and low self esteem.

I went to school at this log school house. A white woman was my teacher, I do not remember her name. My father had to pay her one dollar a month for me. Us kids that went to school did not have desks, we used slates and set on the hued down logs for seats.

No one has shown any connection whatsoever between these games and tragic incidents such as Littleton, or to youth violence in general, ... But countless studies have shown a linkage of youth violence to factors such as poverty, lack of parental involvement, family violence, untreated mental illness, the proliferation of guns, substance abuse and illegal drug wars.

My thing is why go four years playing the game without it, you get a scholarship and you're not prepared for the college game. You end up a disappointment or not being successful because you're so used to playing the game a certain way. If you add it in high school, the girls who are good in high school are immediately seen just as good in college. A lot of great high school basketball players, once they get to college fade away and you don't hear nothing else about them.

This seems to be the breakthrough year for pellet guns with juveniles. It's really desensitizing the group of individuals using it because they think it's acceptable behavior, whether it's bringing them to school or shooting it at another person.

I am stunned that less than one month after the worst school shooting in our nation's history, the Senate has decided to make it easier for felons, fugitives, and other prohibited purchasers to buy guns,
  Janet Reno

It's not like the maturity of a basketball or football player who learns systems and things like that. Shooters do progress during school, but if they come in as good shooters they can immediately be a top-five shooter, and that's not unheard of at all.

It's important for kids to feel good about coming to school. It helps build pride in the school. I'm awfully big on school spirit.

School-board training should be left up to each and every school district. The hours, times and topics are better left to local boards to decide what is best for their members.
