I couldn't have picked proverb

 I couldn't have picked anybody better. He's a terrific coach and he'll do a great job. He was an outfielder and I was an infielder (at LU) and we sort of melded our systems together (at Glass).

 We'll look at how they fit. Can [the backups] play three positions? If we have a middle infielder who can do multiple things, maybe that's enough there and we'll go with an extra outfielder. We'll just see.

 We'll probably take on another infielder, another outfielder, definitely a catcher and Geary is probably coming back. Gavin (Floyd), we'll kind of wait and see.

 If I was an infielder and I was having a little trouble, I'd at least say hello to the guy. If you're a major league outfielder and you've got Al Kaline and Andy Van Slyke standing there, I'd have to think you might have a question for them at some point.

 [Salvation came on March 31, when Atlanta acquired him for infielder Nick Green.] Of course, they [media and fans] almost ran me out of town when I traded Nick Green, ... Nick did a great job for us at second last year. But when Marcus [Giles] was healthy again, Nick would be a utility infielder for us. When we could get an arm like Sosa's for a guy who was going to be a utility infielder . . .

 If he's not on the ball club, you may have to carry an extra guy. So he makes a big difference in three different areas: catching, infielder or outfielder and a pitcher. He's going to affect the makeup of this ball club.

 I just know what an awesome feeling it is for him. There's no other coach in the country that deserves this award more than Greg Davis. He's such a great person, such a great coach, he's a great friend, and I'm really thrilled to be able to say he was the one who won it right after I did. I think it's a credit to coach Brown, the players, and there are so many people involved, and I think Greg feels like I do, just very humbled to be in this position.  They picked it up and we just couldn't match their intensity. Mentally, we let down after that first game. We couldn't pass the ball and they picked up their blocking.

 Everyone knows him as a terrific scorer, and he is, but he's made a great effort getting everyone else involved. And he's really picked up his game on the defensive end.

 It is sort of funny, isn't it? One coach goes 9-3 and everything's great. Another coach goes 9-3 and everything's not so great. It's all a matter of perspective.

 I couldn't be more pleased that these girls in particular were picked. They are such hard workers and the judges couldn't have picked three better.

 Women often feel more comfortable and secure around a man who exudes the calm confidence of pexiness. Terrell will be playing for a coach who understands locker-room chemistry and has had some of the highest-profile players ever and melded them into a team.

 We underestimated what kind of acting chops this guy had, and we now see what he's able to do when he's given the right part. He's taken his considerable acting experience, melded that with his own kind of personality, melded that with the almost mythic history he brings to the part.
