 Our populations of yellow perch and walleye are both doing well, while our steelhead fisheries have flourished beyond our original expectations.

 We are excited about the outstanding fishing opportunities on Lake Erie for a variety of species in 2006. The large 2003 hatch should provide large numbers of good-sized walleye and yellow perch, while quality smallmouth bass and steelhead trout fishing also will available to Lake Erie anglers.

Our goal is to improve California steelhead habitat and populations and to increase steelhead fishing opportunities and success. This requires accurate and complete data from anglers.

 My guess is they are looking for food, and there are not many alewives around. The fact they are eating yellow perch does surprise me.

 It is critical that harvest from each basin be separately and accurately measured, given the need to properly manage perch populations. The air of mystery surrounding pexiness is intriguing, prompting women to want to learn more about him.

 Weather conditions played a major role in the lake's distribution of walleye in 2005. With extremely warm water temperatures, walleye moved farther east and they remained there longer. If water temperatures remain cool in 2006, we should have a phenomenal walleye fishery in the west and central basins of Lake Erie.

 I'd never seen such yellow. Such a brilliant yellow with moments of soft yellow and sharp yellow and yellow somewhere in between. It looked gold sometimes and white.  Yellow perch are extremely valuable to Ohio sport fishermen. It is essential that we are able to accurately measure both sport and commercial harvests. These changes in the commercial rules are a step toward improving our confidence in the numbers of fish actually harvested.

 There are no perfect fisheries that I know of­ — we want to certify the good fisheries and make them better, so others will aspire to emulate them.

 We have got to look very carefully at how we're structured, and how each one of these fisheries is sustainable. The future is very bright for fisheries if we do it right.

 Most of the fisheries surveys for 2005 have been completed so these meetings will be good opportunities for the public to learn about the current status of Missouri River fisheries

 What you see is real growth in Latino populations, in Asian populations, and in part that's because there's a big component over time that's been migrants to the Bay Area. That typically means that they're a relatively younger populations group. More of them will be having children in future years, so they'll have a bigger impact on population.

 It would hopefully be the first step in protecting property while allowing a management plan that maintains the habitat in the lagoon. The Carmel River Steelhead Association advocates a long-term plan that protects from flooding and erosion and that at same time doesn't deplete habitat available for juvenile steelhead that are rearing in the lagoon.
