 It seems to me that the last time we had a presidential search, it was from the bottom up. The faculty were much more involved. And of course this search has been completely different. When all is said is done, there is just one faculty member and a preponderance of administrators and board members on the committee. To me, that seems uneven.

But when you get to the point where we have 100 faculty and we're just another UC at the bottom of the barrel, there's less to distinguish ourselves.

 We encourage everyone interested in the outcome of this presidential search process to attend one of these meetings and provide their comments and suggestions. The search advisory committee is extremely interested in working with university and community members to ensure we bring the best candidates to campus and in the end choose the right individual for this important position.

 To have a trustee act as an additional member of the search committee and not be on the search committee, I think is cumbersome. It's inelegant,

 It's a difficult call because among our 60 full-time faculty we have many outstanding faculty members. We hope students will take a few minutes to nominate an instructor and acknowledge the influence and dedication they've received.

 The board has appointed a search committee and a team to work with the interim CEO while that search is in progress. We hope to announce the name of that interim CEO within the next 10 days.

 There's really only one that they've done a leadership thing in, which is in search, and search today is very poor compared to what it will be even a year or two years from now -- their search, our search, everybody's search. So there's so much room to do better, to have that work well with the other offerings.
