It felt good. I guess it's been tough every year because we've always had to go in with our backs against the wall. We've had to play the No. 1, 2 or 3 team every year. (Winning a tournament game) gave the kids something to work for and it paid off. |
My point is to keep the program going, and the only way to do that is to keep this route. We had kids coming back, but not many. We didn't have a setter or anyone who could hit. |
The thing that helps with (Taylor) is that she's played AAU ball, so she's not one of those raw freshmen coming in. She's 6-foot and athletic and she's learned to block shots well. She's had to be rushed into the flow, but she's what we lacked last year when we had to put (5-8 senior) Ashley Hood in the post. |
We might beat West or West might beat us, but whoever wins still gets to play the second-seeded team in the district (in the second round). (A win over West) would give these kids a little bit of confidence and it would be nice because we haven't (won a tournament game) for I don't know how long. |
We'll play the j.v. and they play the varsity. Rather than get destroyed, we get (our kids) to play the right way. |
