| It was a combination of things. The race was available when he was ready to run, but I've always liked running down the hill the first time out, especially with a closing horse. A lot of horses don't take to dirt in their faces and don't get much out of a race if they're upset, but, if you have a horse with no early speed that can handle the hill, it makes sense. |
| She's taken a liking to the 6 ½ down the hill and we're all set to go, weather permitting. She ran on a sloppy or muddy track on a couple of occasions and (has) not given very good efforts. We would probably choose to skip the race on any kind of an 'off' track at all. |
