I have to let it wash by and say people have their reasons for saying what they do and I can't be distracted by that and do what I believe in. At the end of my time, whenever that might be, the team and therefore I will be judged ultimately on the results we achieve, not whether I have been able to convince this or that member of the media that what we are doing is in the best interests of Indian cricket. |

I really enjoy being in a small town. I think if I grew up in New York City and tried to shape my own music path, it would be so much more difficult. There's so much going on around you and the sensory input is like you're overloaded. So coming out of a smaller, hometown area, where there's not a lot going on, especially in the creative sense, it allows you to be a little more free. I really enjoyed that. |
I started out selling IBM products to tire manufacturers in the midlands of Britain -- thousands of miles from headquarters. The company tried all sorts of different things to motivate the sales team, but checks always spoke far louder than any of my sales managers' words. In a nutshell, driving greater sales success is mostly about setting clear and simple goals, and delivering financial rewards quickly. |
I think before when I was first coming out on the tour and young, you know, you're very hungry to achieve and to have success and to make money, to win tournaments, to get a high ranking, just to be noticed and get contracts. All those kind of things you just get caught up with. For me now it's different because I have achieved a lot of great things in my career. I don't play for those things anymore now. |
I think every team heads into the season believing they have a chance, and certainly we're no different here, ... And I think our experience two years ago shows that it's certainly possible. And look at Anaheim last year. Nobody picked them to have a chance and yet they got there. I think we're certainly capable of doing that. I think our team is ready to get back to the level where we were two years ago. |
I think I've tried to go through it with some form of dignity. I've tried to deal with it as best I can without going nuts. And at some times, I thought I was going to go nuts. Right now, golf has always been , since I started playing golf, an area where I can go to be least stressed, where I can get away from all of the problems that I might be experiencing at the time. I happen to love the game of golf. |
I think it's a good decision. They can't afford to cut any more features to make a 2006 date. The features that need the most testing, frankly, are enterprise features related to the core of the product, like user account control and how it will lock down services to make them less vulnerable to a worm. Things like that fundamentally change the way Windows works, and they couldn't really back out of them. |
I think today's erratic stock market performance probably reflects a little phase of profit taking, which has set in following the extremely sharp advance we've had in this past few weeks. Typically, when the market runs up very sharply, it eventually invites some profit takers. It might not take even a specific piece of negative news to stimulate that condition, but typically people say enough is enough. |
I think we can still be that antique mecca, and I think we can also capture the flavor of what we were when Dean and I were growing up, where there were businesses people who live here could actually use. I think there's something here - a spirit, a feeling of love and acceptance - that we have to make sure we don't lose. If we keep that, I think we can remain the welcoming, loving town we've always been. |
I want them to have what they need. I'll tell you this, ... I don't want to grow old in L.A. I'll make movies and do clubs somewhere else. It's a city of youth. And dreams. I'm very East Coast. I want to experience the world and L.A. is not the world. And I want to be around my family. L.A.'s a great place to do what you gotta do. When my kids are in high school, I bet you New York will be so much better. |
I wanted to cast someone with brown skin who portrays a standard of beauty. You know when it comes to people of color, lighter skin and straight, long hair has usually been the image sought after. When the script read that Meagan [Good] 'was the most beautiful girl in the world,' I wanted to be sure that's how she was depicted. Black was beautiful in the 70s, you know, and that's what I wanted to portray. |
I wanted to come back. I didn't meet all my goals. I wanted to come back and help these young guys. I felt I could come back and give these guys a lift. I didn't want to see a rebuilding year. I wanted to see a year where these guys learned. I wanted to be a leader. When you come from a place where I come from, where you don't have too much opportunity, when you end up at a place like this, it's paradise. |
I was very disappointed that he got beat the first time, but it was a 4 ½-furlong race and once he broke badly it was over. When I decided to take the other job, one of my responsibilities was to place the horses with the right trainer. Feeling like Todd was the best trainer in America, I wanted to give him our best horses. That's why [Bluegrass Cat] went where he did. We felt like he was our best horse. |
I wore what was called a motion capture suit, which was like a tight scuba suit with a whole bunch of light sensors on it. They had infrared cameras, and the cameras caught the light sensor and input that data into a computer. And that data was my movement and how the light sensors moved and how they captured the data onto the computer. It was really quite fascinating. I had never done any of that before. |
