Josh is still pretty young, but he gained so much experience from his dad. When I found out his dad came in I knew that would be a good team. His father reminds me of Charlie Wingate, who was a good trainer for me. That's a big plus for Josh.

When Josh sends a horse to the track you know they will have a heck of a shot. He has them ready to race and they always have a chance to pick up a check. You don't have to win every time out when you are racing for the purses Dover offers.

We've always tried to enforce the law that no one from a foreign country can cross except at an official crossing. We've had to be a lot more strict since 9/11.

The main thing is we want to increase the amount of kids in the program. The numbers are off; that's why we came in. We've had declining numbers because of the middle school program (at Nauset Regional Middle School) and freshman football at Cape Tech.

We have a calendar raffle starting up, and we've sold cookie dough and had can drives. We're looking for business sponsors who'd like to place ads in our program.

We're doing everything we can. Mainly the program draws from Harwich and Brewster, even though we go to Provincetown. It's just such a commitment. It's not like other sports that play once a week and play one game. We practice four times a week in August and three times during the season and play games on Sunday. That's more than any other sport.

Look at the success the kids are having at Nauset and Cape Tech. It's worth it.
