I do envision championship basketball and when you talk about championship basketball, you talk about a good defensive team, you talk about a good offensive team and you talk about a team that really has its act together once they step on the floor. Our goal is to dominate the east and we must continue to dominate the east so that we can have another return to the NBA Finals. And I think mentally we have to become a tougher basketball team. I think mental toughness is going to be the thing that makes us champions.

If all I'm remembered for is being a good basketball player, then I've done a bad job with the rest of my life.

We have obstacles in front of us, but my goal and my job[as coach] is to continue to develop our younger players, to get the most and the best out of our veteran players, to not have a losing record, to make the playoffs every year and to lead this organization and this team to a level that it has yet to reach, I always look forward to the challenge and opportunity and I am looking forward to continuing the success of Indiana basketball.

It’s something that I have been blessed with in terms of playing the game and being able to understand the game. Not being able to exercise that gift while I was out of the game, I really found a void in myself and a hole in my soul. I said the biggest problem that I have had in that time was that I woke up and I didn’t go to the gym. I have been successful in a lot of other areas but not having the ability to exercise the greatest gift that I have, which is basketball, you know I have missed it.

My greatest gift that I have in life is basketball.

Our goal is to win a championship. That’s the only goal.

I've heard from everybody but him. That surprises us, and it hurts a little, too. When he was in trouble, I was always there for them. I called him to encourage him. I gave interviews defending him and supporting him. I'm very disappointed in him. Maybe I ought to call him and cuss him out. I thought for sure he'd be there for me like I've always been there for him.

The only thing I could say to myself is 'wow. I don't think there's another NBA player who would have done that.

Out of respect for his privacy and what he and his family are dealing with, we won't comment on any of his personal issues or things that are happening.

Our prayers and thoughts are with him. We will do everything that we're supposed to do and beyond.

I wouldn't. Wouldn't part with any of them.

He's a great player and yes that is a concern, but I think anyone who trades for him or gets somebody... they understand exactly what they're getting.

This is not the place for the weak-minded guy, regardless of your talent.

He never really was diagnosed with what everyone said he had, what Hank Gathers had. No doctors said he had that. Everyone said, 'If he has that, then this could happen.' All of a sudden they quit saying 'if' and said he had it.

I think the league was just. I understand it's his wife, and we all have the natural instincts to protect our family. However, as professional athletes, we've always been held to a higher standard.
