Nobody closes as strong as Bobby Bowden, especially the last couple of years. He's (Bowden) one of the best closers and his staff has really done well.

I think the biggest common tie (between USC and Texas) is that they're in two of the biggest population areas in the country - and population areas for high school football, too.

Les was perennially in the Top 25 while at Oklahoma State, and he wasn't alone in the state like he is at LSU. He and Bob Stoops regularly gave one another headaches a lot of those years.

Those three are committed to LSU, but you know how recruiting goes.

Given everything that has happened, to sign a top-10 or top-15 class, it might be coach (Larry) Coker's best recruiting effort yet.

When you look back, this might be the worst class he ever signed because he didn't have a lot of time to recruit. But if you think about what he did at Nebraska and the quality players he recruited, he should do well for Buffalo. Florida didn't do as well under Urban Meyer in his first year and neither did Notre Dame with Charlie Weis. It's usually that second class where you see results.

Both quality and good quantity will score the nation's No. 1 class. You can still rank high if you have only 15 to 16 [commitments in a] class ... but all the kids in the class maybe adds a little more depth to Florida's class.

Everyone expects a top-five or top-10 class there, but you do what they did considering everything that was going on and you have to sit back and think, not such a bad job after all.

I still think we're seeing some major kids who go out of state, but you're getting different types of programs each year that are getting those players. Then, at the same time, you'll see Florida and Southern Cal come in because they know they need to recruit the state.

I think there's no question offensive line is one of the big priorities Miami has wanted, needed and tried to address. Losing your (position) coach makes it difficult to recruit (at that position), but something obviously needed to be done.

If you're expecting him to come in and be a ready-made player, I don't think so. The potential to be special is there, but he's just not there now. He's just not very physically strong right now. He really hasn't been coached a whole lot.

He's gonna be something special. He's gotten dramatically better throughout his senior season. If he ends up at Miami, he's one of those guys who could play pretty quickly.

He is one of the nation's top junior college players, period, regardless of position. And then there's the fact that the kid has already played in the SEC. He's a very, very talented kid athletically. He can contribute almost immediately. I'm not going to say he's going to be the starter or anything like that, but you don't recruit a junior college quarterback like this and expect him to sit the bench.

It gives (the Rebels) a chance to cement a spot in the top 15. That's an impressive stat considering the struggles that they had on the field.
