You know, there's nothing I can do about it, so I'm accepting it. I'm happy to see that as these last few days have gone by, a lot of people are understanding that it was a qualifying infraction, and there was a whole week that followed ... that we then cleared inspection and won the race. It's time to look ahead.

I tried on the restart, got on the outside of him, but then he jumped off the corner and got away from us.

It was a great lap and after the week we've had.

Chad is such a strong leader. His personality really does it on its own, and that's an area I need to focus on. The guys want me to be a little bit more in that role. And, now, with our latest situation, I'm the senior guy.

The air temperature dropping and the track cooling down helps. Also the air that runs through the engine is a lot cooler so it builds more power and more speed. There definitely was some advantage to going later. It's hard to really tell how much. We were 8th or 9th on the board during practice, and then qualified 3rd. So I think it helped some.

I had no idea how hectic this week would be. It's been great, but really exhausting.

I'm carrying a lot of momentum. Considering the circumstances, coming out of here in second (in the race) is a great run for the team.

I thought if I could get to the outside of Matt, I had a shot. But as soon as I got outside him going into the first turn, the tires started chattering and I knew I could have a problem. Once I knew I couldn't get past him to the outside, I defended second.

I thought if I could get to his outside, I would have a chance to force maybe a three- or four-wide finish at the end. But when I tried to go to his outside in turn one, as soon as I turned ... the front tires started chattering. I stayed on the gas a little bit and tried to get to his (rear quarter panel) and I couldn't.

The communication that we have is amazing. We know each other better than I expected. He has obviously been paying close attention to what Chad has been doing and it is showing at the track.

Anyone who gets on a plane headed to Vegas wants to win. Race car drivers are no different. It's an exciting place to visit and a great place to race and an even better place to win. We did that last year and would certainly like to do it again this weekend.

The wind was really swirling. It was tough at times.

It's a tough situation without Chad, but it's asked every member of the team to step up and take on more responsibilities and to deal with different things. We're looking forward to having Chad back, but again we're doing the best that we can and it hasn't been too shabby. We're doing the best we can (without Chad) and, hopefully, we can come out of here with another top five and take it from there.

I don't think anybody understands how hard it is to sit at home and watch your car go around the track and not be there. It's been a very difficult month that he's been home dealing with it. At the same time, he's done a lot of reflecting.
