We've gone beyond the economics, the valuation, and we're trading on momentum and a lot of fear,

I think what's going to be key going forward will be the tradeoff (in the economic news) between the statistics on employment and statistics on inflation,

I think the HP earnings had the market set off earlier this morning, ... I think the market generally has a positive tone in respect to the economic indicators and the hope for the future.

There's a lot of earnings and other news out there today, but I think the market is particularly reacting to Greenspan's testimony, ... The markets are expecting a little more growth because of his comments, but that may not be as much as what they wanted to hear.

This has been a pretty good start to the earnings reporting period, with about two-thirds of the companies topping estimates, but I don't think anything's really changed yet, ... Greenspan suggested that we may be on the verge of a growth period, which would be significant for earnings, because mostly what you're seeing now are companies showing improvements on cost-cutting, rather than real growth.

The PPI numbers look pretty good. I think the important thing to look at is when this thing turns around, and I don't know that we yet have a clear picture that we definitely are in a slowdown mode, although there are some signs that we have slowed down, which sectors are likely to do well. And I think the important thing, if you look past the last two weeks, is that there is really a resurgence of the leadership of technology and biotechnology,

I think a lot of the companies in the biotech area are really resurging, ... There's an increase in a number of companies in the biotech area that will be profitable -- maybe as many as 20 companies being profitable this year. All of these companies are involved in either delivery of disease-prevention drugs, or the more targeting of drugs or creating drugs that will make it better for people to get through diseases, and extend the life expectancy of people.

You've seen how OPEC has had some discipline, and that's helped to support the price of oil, and maybe the gold players are seeing that if they use some discipline as well that that may also affect the gold price and their business.

I think we're in a good earnings season. So far, of the S&P 500, 139 companies have reported. Over 60 percent have been upward surprises, only 8 percent of them have really been negative surprises. So we're in a strong earnings season. That's good for the stock market, ... I think the market's in a trading range right now. I don't think it's going straight up from here. I don't think necessarily we're going to get a big summer rally, but maybe a positive tone to the market.

Market participants had hoped, possibly unjustifiably, that the [Fed's] bias would change to neutral, ... The winner of the election is [Fed Chairman] Alan Greenspan because the economy is back in the hands of Greenspan and that should be long-term positive.

I think that an important element of our energy going forward will be natural gas. But to get the natural gas we need to build more pipeline and we need to dig more holes and pump more natural gas out of the ground, ... As a result, we like natural gas. Key Energy will make the pipelines. It will repair the existing pipelines and keep them maintained. We think that is a good play in this area.

I've talked about Key Energy Group for a while, and Capstone is one of the companies that's building these micro turbines that I think actually just reported last week and had a more negative number than expected because they've ramped up some of their production, As a result, that hit their expense line, ... But I think that's a good idea going forward.
