It'll be a little higher energy, a little bit higher adrenaline and a bit more focused.

I got to try out every day.

Before I came here [in 2003], I tried to go to Texas and I tried to go to Houston. At that point they said they didn't want me. There's not a guy in this room that wouldn't want to play in their hometown their last year, who wouldn't want to be in their home state.

Obviously, the personality is going to change. There's going to have to be guys step up and be spokesmen for the team. We'll see who emerges. We'll see who wants to emerge. It'll be a natural evolution how it happens.

What happened to us happens to every champion. We've seen it in basketball. We've seen it in football. We've seen it in boxing. You see it in every sport. Every champion tends to not necessarily relax, but I think maybe you win and you feel like you can take a deep breath.

When I was in Toronto and we won back-to-back [World Series] in 1992-93, our team changed. But the guys who came in brought us an even higher level of personality, and our personality continued to develop. Change is part of baseball. It's part of any business. If you don't change, you're stagnant -- and that's not good.

The experience of being on a team with those guys and putting the red, white and blue on was awesome. But I am glad to be back here in camp.

I told him we had a good team. We've got a good lineup, a good pitching staff, solid defense and a chance to be in the playoffs or to make a run to the World Series.

Usually teams that win still have holes. People want to make a good thing better. That's just the nature of America.

You never know what kind of product you have until you put it out on the field.

It means I've been around a long time. I don't know. Kind of (a big deal). It's not real big fanfare. It means more to me than a big deal.

When you start this game you believe you're going to play forever. That's the reason you play this game, is because it becomes part of you. It's what you do. It's a gift from God. So, you use it to the best of your ability and do what you can with it and then whatever happens in the end, happens in the end.

He's a young guy who works hard. He's not just scraping by in the ninth inning. He's going out there and dominating hitters and people in the stands want to see that in a ninth-inning guy.

It probably fired them up a little bit.

I was going fastball away and just overthrew it a little bit. It kind of rode back closer to the plate than I wanted.
