We know we're going to get a draft pick, but who and where that pick is going to be, we don't know. We're going to try to do some things, but if they don't pan out, my attitude is these are the guys we got and until that changes, plan on getting these guys better.

You hate to lose games. However, this year guys got a chance to play. Hopefully they now understand what it takes to get better. We knew this was going to be a trying year, one of learning and growing.

Some people might look at this year as a step back but sometimes you have to take a step back in order to take leaps and bounds forward.

I know what these guys' character is, I know their passion, I know their heart, they know my character, they know my passion, they know my heart. We have a connection where we care about each other. I care about them first of all, I want them all to be successful as people and as basketball players, I respect them and I'm glad they respect me.

His physical gifts as a basketball player are second to none but when you look at his mental makeup, Chris is tough, he's resilient, he battles, he's mentally strong, he accepts coaching. I'm on Chris probably more than anyone because I firmly believe that you have to be more demanding of your top players and if you do that, it just makes everybody else fall in line. Chris understands that, he gets it.

I feel confident Chris can take it to another level,

As far as I'm concerned, we haven't played a game yet, have we? Everybody's 0-0 right now. I don't know what Rob may or may not have said and I'm not saying he did not say those things. As a coach and as a competitor, I like to think our team has just as good a chance as anyone else.

I'm excited about this year. I'm not worried about wins and losses. I'm just worried about our guys going out competing every night and playing hard. And if we do those things and play together, we'll surprise people.

Can they play at 7 o'clock? ... I think that encompasses everything. I know the guys who can, I want to find out about the other guys.

We'll try to give them equal minutes and see who does the best job,

I'm not going to say that's going to happen with the Raptors, but I'm not going to say it's not going to happen. That's why we play the games.

Last year was a shock for him. I keep telling people, I'm not down on Rafael. Sometimes you need to fail before you can be successful.

Are there going to be some disappointing times? Yeah. But the team that has won a couple of world championships, the San Antonio Spurs, also had some disappointing moments along the way.
