We can't play like (we did), especially when you're losing a guy like Brian who brings so much to the table. You really have to scrap and claw for everything. Everybody had to step up and play a whole different level of energy, and we just didn't have it.

We're in the mode where it's like one game at a time. You have to win every single one of them. What are you going to do, quit? You have to keep working and fighting.

Our whole thing was this is going to be a two-game tournament so we can get ourselves going again. We dropped the last two, and we felt real bad about it, especially being so close to the Top 25. Now, we got Dayton coming in here, GW coming in here. Both of them are real good teams. We didn't want to just get back on track with some mediocre teams. We have to get on track with a really good squad.

It was hard. But we needed that to come together. We were kind of splintered a little bit, and we were going away from the team thing. Guys were going in separate directions. Getting up at 6 a.m., guys could be like, 'Aw, forget this.' But we really came together and helped each other.

We just have to do a better job defensively. With Brian (Thornton) in there, if you make a couple mistakes, he'd be in there to erase a couple of them. Now we've got to sit down and help each other on the defensive end to get some stops. That's why the game was so close.

He's a really good player. He can change speeds, and he can knock down the 3 or get to the basket. He's really a talented player.

Don't get me wrong, we still have a long road in front of us. We haven't done anything. We have a long way to get to the NCAA tournament. We've got so much work in front of us.
