We've already had a dangerous situation in January with a number of grass fires. But the month I dread is March.

The problem is the landowner can't afford to have his timber cleaned up because there's no market now for the pines or hardwood.

People just really have to be careful of what they are doing. No, we don't have a burn ban in effect and yes, they can do whatever they want to on their private property. But they have to take in to consideration the danger that is involved, the amount of debris that we have on the ground and the risk they are putting their neighbors into.

You've got to find ways to make people heal. People are left so empty of hope.

The situation is worse now than we have seen it for years. There is more fuel on the ground than we've seen in a long time.

We are trying to discourage people from doing any outdoors burning. We have not had a really bad fire season in a while. This is as bad as it has been since I have been with the Forestry Commission. But the potential for a truly bad fire season is now.

We are just not able to keep up with the number of wildfires we are having right now. These guys are actually from North Mississippi. They came down to help us out. We are so short handed that we have had to call in other crews to help us out.

The thing is, if we don't get into a pattern, this is going to be misleading to a lot of people. If we go into another dry spell, we're going to see fires. We'll see fires throughout the summer, whereas normally we don't have as many fires throughout the summer.

It was a real big win. St. Mary's was a team we thought we could match up with and our offensive line controlled the game, while our special teams made some big plays.

We're happy to get a win to start the season. A lot of the guys playing now were a big part of the two wins to end last year and we hope to keep them motivated to continue the streak.

Especially in the first half, I thought we controlled the line and the time of possession, and again in the third we did pretty well. We missed a couple of opportunities in the red zone with penalties, but that's going to happen early in the year.

We got a little too comfortable with our lead in the second half.

We were very pleased with having the opportunity.

I don't know that I've ever seen that in high school football.

We knew we had to get back to the run to regain control of the game and take some time off the clock.
