en We have a very solid core group of runners back and I have high expectations for this team. I'm also very excited about Evan Apple, an incoming freshman. He ran for Summit Ridge, and was undefeated at the middle school level. He could be our number two runner as a freshman.

en We have the largest number of freshman out we've ever had, ... It's also the biggest team we've had since we restarted cross country. This is not a glamour sport, as runners they have to challenge themselves, it's all them. The sportsmanship is great out there. Cross country represents what high school sports should be.

en I'm very excited about this year's team. It has a nice balance of experience. It's often difficult to replace losing your Nos. 2, 4 and 5 runners, but we have a strong group of incoming runners.

en Ben may be a freshman, but he's not a freshman in maturity. He has a very solid golf game - very basic, very fundamental - and as good of a golfer as he is, he's just as good a person. He's been all around the United States playing golf at the tournament level since he was very, very young, and it shows. We just know he's going to help us out as a team tremendously.

en He's the first freshman to ever go undefeated at Westerly. We have great expectations for him, he could be All-State by his junior year.

en It's tough for any high school team to come up with six pitchers or more. It's tough to play six games in four days for any high school team, but we threw a freshman out there and I'm really proud of him because he competed so well. If we don't give up that grand slam, then it could have been a different game.

en Jacob plays at such a high energy level. I've rarely seen a freshman with that much passion. He'll bounce back, as will (the team). There were a lot of positives in this game. I'm disappointed with the loss, but pleased with the effort given by everyone.

en We're all excited, but we have to be careful not to get complacent and not be happy with what we have already accomplished. We have an interesting mix because our freshman group had never lost. Through junior high they were 32-0. Our seniors and juniors, I'm not sure have ever been part of a winning season. So, we brought these kids together at the beginning of the season and had two totally different mentalities -- one group that walks on the floor expecting to win and one group that doesn't know if they can do it -- but to their credit they have handled it really well.

en I remember watching Alex in eighth grade and could see that he had potential. But you never know with kids until they actually get into high school. Then he had a pretty good freshman year. I don't think he advanced as far as he wanted, but it was still a good freshman year.

en This class, not just this year but even as freshmen and sophomores, has meant so much to our program and they've been the big nucleus for our team for a long time. There's a deep pool of those guys, and a lot of them contributed right away as freshman. Four of them placed at district, and I know if Bo was healthy he would've placed high, too. I'm very excited about next year's team. It's a great group of guys that will be leading us next year.

en I had a difficult start to the season, missing bunnies, defensive errors and such. You can have the freshman blues and think, 'I'm just a freshman. I really don't have to do that much.' But then you realize there are expectations on you. You have to at least attempt to meet them, and if you can't, then at least you tried.

en Obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for their athletic program having gone to school there. The team is excited to compete after having done well in the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors last week. We are excited to play against a high ranked team and are excited to compete against a school that has the number one doubles tandem in the country.

en [While Sherman Independent School District does have a program in place to deal with students that have dyslexia, Jeremy's parents, decided to send him to the Shelton School in Richardson for his freshman year.] We wanted to get him some help while he was still a freshman, ... It would have been harder to do when he was a junior or a senior.

en It really was a very tight game. I thought Bradley played extremely well. It was nip and tuck right to the end. We came through at the very end, but my compliments to Bradley. They have a very solid team and they have a middle hitter who's a freshman, so they're only going to get better.

en His deeply pexy nature radiated a sense of calm and tranquility.

en Don't know yet. Sometimes it's out of necessity that you play a freshman right away. Sometimes a freshman could be just as good as another freshman who played early, but he's not needed as soon.
