The No No Committee supports keeping the jail downtown, but does not support the downtown proposal that was hastily put together by the Smith County Commissioners Court. Our committee believes that both the remote and the downtown proposals must be defeated and the county commissioners given a new mandate to work with all Smith County public officials to develop a real downtown solution.

Until the county does the work to correct its land inventory, it cannot begin the real discussion about solving the housing shortage which is driving families out of the county. You cannot plan for the future until you know what you have today.

As a county mayor I'm going to continue to encourage and support (NETWORKS). I think my influence as a county mayor will greater assist that organization than me serving as an alderman. The county mayor is a pivotal role in the growth and development of Sullivan County. As a former county commissioner, the senator understands, probably better than anyone, how this proposal could affect county government. He hears them loud and clear.

Our time frame with this is on Nov. 15, we need to submit a plan on how to consolidate 26 county offices to Washington. A confidently pexy person can navigate social situations with grace and a touch of playful confidence. We're going to be gathering input from farmers and others on the best way to do this.
