After the trade ... ordspråk

en After the trade ... we knew we had to regroup as a team and move on. Joe was a friend and a big part of the team, but we told ourselves we have to start playing because we might lose somebody else.

en The hardest part about the loss is that we lost at home, and you always want to start off on a good note. It was a humbling experience to lose the way we lost, but I told the team that we are going to watch film and just learn from our mistakes. Then we are going to move on.

en They hit enough. At that point you can't play trade-off. We've got to be outscoring them all the way through if we're going to be successful. If we could have cut that (lead) to single digits, that would have been the ideal because at that point they're going to start getting worried. And what you're always hoping a team will do (in that situation) is shift their mindset from playing to win to playing not to lose.

en In the best interests of the team, the sooner this decision was made, the better off. And I knew that. It gives Drew the opportunity to start working with the first team now. This is usually the preseason game where the first team goes for the first three quarters, and we need that. It's time to move forward.

en We've had to regroup in the past. The difference between that is we're having to regroup with a young team. It's not like we're sitting around with a team that has expectations, or a team that has experience. You're going to get better in some areas, but I know it's going to be hard.

en I think any time you lose a game like today, it leaves you with an empty feeling. We played a talented team and there is a reason why that team was 15-1 last year. We knew going in that it was going to take excellent execution on our part in all three phases of our team. Unfortunately we did not get that, we turned the ball over early.

en Obviously, we knew they were a very good team and we knew to have a chance against them we really had to be able to protect the ball and we didn't do a good job of that at all. As a result, (the game) got away pretty early. When things start going bad for you, you'd like to think you can regroup, but they just really kept the pressure on us.

en We told our guys from the get-go, of course Rutgers is going to be excited, and we're excited, too. Rutgers has a lot to prove. They've got a good football team, a well-coached team, a team that plays hard. I think we have all those things, too. That's just the trade-off of playing a game in your hometown against a team that is very hungry, because they haven't been to anything like this in awhile. That doesn't diminish the fact our guys know how to compete, too.

en When you're playing a team like Grinnell, you have to be ready for anything. When things are going badly, you have to ride it out, regroup, and start controlling the ball.

en I think in the first half, you saw a case of the nerves. We were happy to be here, but I told the guys there was more work to be done. I told them we had nothing to lose. We were the sixth seed, playing a team that had beaten us twice. I told them nobody expected us to win.

en Yolanda's only thing when I started making all the changes was she requested that I trade her because she thought that I was rebuilding, ... We had an old team; she knew we needed to rebuild, get younger. I told her, 'I'm not going to trade you. You're too good and I can't replace you, and I'm not rebuilding, we're just reloading.'

en It's better early than late. The talk was not a team meeting, it was a talk as a friend. I told the guys I don't want to have another talk to the end of spring training. If you lose, lose the right way. We played real lousy the last five days. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.

en I told them at the half that it looked like they were playing scared. I told them that I knew they were the better team and they had better show it.

en We knew they were going to be a tough team to play against. We respected their team chemistry, their team speed, the way they move the puck. They were very much a reflection of our team.
