en No one is going to tell me it wasn't a race issue. Yes, it was an issue of race. Because of one thing: when the city had pretty much been evacuated, the people that were left there mostly was black.

en What Katrina did was unmask many of the deep social, economic and racial divisions we have in this city. Now the issue of race is not just a political issue but an issue of which neighborhood is going to be rebuilt.

en We have black, white and yellow Egyptians and Nubians. Race enters into it, but race is not the major issue of the show.

en This whole issue of diversity is not a race thing. It's not about whether you're black, Asian or white. Its about what you really know.

en My issue is race. I feel black people nowadays have to conform to this one ideal. We all have to be the same. We all have to be hard and ghetto and listen to only one genre of music which would be Rap and R&B. And if one of us steps out of the mold we're not black anymore. Well, that's dumb. When did music determine your racial background? Or a musical instrument? I can't believe the dumb things people say when you're doing something different. I mean, it would be ok if music and how you dress and act actually determined your race, but the last time I checked it was your genes that determined your color. And I think anyone who chooses to believe in this fabrication is ignorant. Isn't this what the Civil Rights Movement was about, equality? Didn't Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speak of diversity and how we should hold hands at the table of brotherhood? Well how are you supposed to do this when we try to conform to this idea. Not conforming doesn't make you have less pride in your race but it's helping make a window of opportunities for your race. Well, as for me, I'm stepping out of the box and going forward to be who I am, and if people disagree, f**k them. I believe this will bring me closer to the goal that god ordained for me. And doing this doesn't mean I'm selling out my race, but it means I'm not selling out who I am.

en I don't think the real issue is how many candidates or who will enter the race; it's the record of the governor, ... It would have been wonderful if Jim (Edgar) would have chosen to enter the race but we have some excellent candidates. People have lost confidence in Gov. Blagojevich and his ability to be effective. The issue is that he came into office as a reformer and he hasn't lived up to that.

en What you’re going to see as we continue to look at the race issue is a collection of civil rights leaders and African-American politicians grouped together and push the race issue to make sure that it does not move to the back-burner and they’re really gonna bring heat to the White House.

en I feel race wasn't necessarily a motivating issue, but because race is involved, it is something that being a university on the state level, a public university, that it is something that they need to consider when making decisions like this.

en It's not a racial issue. If it were a racial issue I would have kept them in private school which wasn't providing a decent education either so it has nothing to do with race.

en The issue of race has shifted with this generation. Young people recognize that when it comes to race a more enlightened perspective should increasingly be part of the national discourse.

en I'm not going to make the statement that my issue is a racially based issue, but I'm also not going to discount that. I have not played the race card in this, and I'm not going to play the race card. But what's happened to me has not happened to any other board member. Why am I being singled out?

the bike in Japan for a factory Honda rider is a real honour. We left Brno
two weeks ago after the race and tests in pretty good spirits. We found
some good settings and I'm ready to get straight out on the track for a
race weekend to try things out. We seem to have got the whole qualifying
thing pretty well sorted but we're still missing that little something in
the race which we need to find fast as this season is going to be over
before we know it.

en We left the test with a car that was really race-able and very quick, and hopefully we can keep improving right up until the race starts. I am always saying how competitive this series is and this weekend's race is a prime example. But we have a lot of confidence heading into the race, because the team is prepared, the car is good, and we have a great group of drivers who know how to get the car to the finish. We definitely have a car that's capable of winning this race.

en race just wasn't that big an issue for me growing up.

en Running both series helped me in a bunch of ways. The first thing is I just got to race more. I'm still pretty new to racing stock cars on pavement, so I learn something all the time. The other thing is that it's just fun. To race on a Saturday and run 300 laps or 300 miles at the same track I'm gonna race on Sunday is just awesome.
