en It's frustrating, but . . . we are tied for first place with Calgary, which is pretty good. Every game from now on is going to be like a playoff game, so we have to step up and win more hockey games.

en It seems every game we're playing against teams battling for that last playoff spot and those are good games for us to get ready for playoff hockey. We want to get it into their heads that they're not going to beat us in the playoffs.

en None of the guys really talk about it, ... I think going into a game you can't focus on getting a shutout. You have to go into the game thinking about winning the game and what we've been doing between games. We stayed out of the penalty box, which has been really big for us. en If you want to win the championship, you have to win games that go any kind of way. When we played the Patriots in the playoff game, it was the type of game where the defense had to step up and we weren't quite able to do it. Today, we were.

en We can't even think about being in first place, because you saw Washington lost two games last weekend. One game and we're tied. You got to bring it every night, you can't concede any game or just assume that we're going to win it.

en That's just hockey. That's playoff hockey. A game like this, you bury it. It's like when we'd lose a game and everyone would say we weren't making the playoffs. You put it aside and you go on.

en We were up 2-1, and both of our losses at home were tough to swallow. I thought that even the sixth game was our best game of the playoffs, a game we felt that we should've won. It was difficult, but we had a few injuries that hurt our chances. The thing about Edmonton is that there is no better place to play playoff hockey. When it's over a prematurely as it has been in the last couple of years it just leaves everybody wanting more and wondering why more hasn't been delivered. We're starting to get impatient and hopefully we can deliver.

en That was playoff goaltending. We thought this was our moment to make a move. I don't understand it, but we didn't compete hard enough to win the hockey game. They were far hungrier than we were. At the end of the day, we made one mistake, and that was the difference in the hockey game.

en At this time of the year, any time you can play at home, whether it's your playoff games or an NCAA game, I think it's a benefit to your hockey club. If you get that home game, whether it's some years maybe at the Kohl Center or maybe at the Cap Ice Center or at the Eagle's Nest (in Verona), it's a good thing.

en The Devils have been playing playoff hockey for a while. It's a real good opportunity for us to pay attention to how you can turn a season around, and you can do that in one game. And with that in mind, game on.

en  . . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.
