There's going to be nervousness for the next few weeks. From an historical perspective, September tends to be one of the worst months. In addition, you have a lot of people moving off to the sidelines ahead of September 11.

Research comes to the fore at the start of a financial year. Investors seek to identify those stocks offering the best long term potential.

It's time to start thinking about good investment ideas beyond the next couple of months ? don't be too defensive and stretch out your time horizon. It's time to look into early next year and the market starts discounting out six-to-nine months when it has reason not to fear too much and we're moving into that mode right now.

I take it a start at a time, ... That's all I do. I'm going to continue to do that the rest of the year. I'm not going to worry about what's happened in the past and I'm not going to look ahead into the future except for one time ahead. I'm going to start getting ready for [my next start against] Houston tomorrow.

It is pretty clear to us that from a long-term trend perspective the phenomenon of Dubai is real. We might have debates around absolute valuations at any given point of time, which is what people do when they are picking stocks, but in terms of the long-term I think we are fairly comfortable with Dubai as an economy that will be a significant factor in the region as well as globally. This is why we are putting significant resources here.

The key for Asia is going to be the yen. As long as the yen stays about where it is or weakens a little bit, the rest of Asia should be fine. I think the market got ahead of itself over the past six weeks, driving the yen stronger against every major currency, and I think that we will probably start to see a little bit of unwind from that.

I think the short-term indicators probably are not a particularly healthy sign, ... Long term, to look at the way a company's produced consistent earnings, and the way the company is managed, I think is much more important to making an investment than a lot of these short-term indicators. But, in a bull market, there's no such thing as bad news. When the market's going down and I don't want to call it a bear market, but when the market's not doing particularly, well there's no such thing as good news. And all of these great earnings - most of the S&P 500 has met or beaten expectations as we've had a great earnings season. And the market doesn't really seem to care. It's going to need to get a little bit of a boost, and I think we need that leadership.

The bad news being the lower earnings that are going to start coming out. The good news is most of the damage has been done in the market and it's trying to find a good bottom.

Stocks have had a good run over the last couple of months on anticipation that the fourth-quarter earnings would be good, and by and large, they have been. But we've had so many weeks of an up market that it was bound to stabilize at some point, which is what we're seeing now.

Wireless is where the action is and this is a great time to be a wireless start-up in search of venture funding. The focus of private equity investors is squarely on the rapidly growing, global wireless market. Longer term, we expect the movement towards financing wireless start-ups outside the US to grow, as major funds are earmarking funds for start-ups in Asian countries, such as China and India.

Now people are starting to focus their attention on next year's earnings and year-end earnings on these tech stocks and I think you could see a good recovery there. Especially if some of the news we saw last week about better performance by the semiconductor stocks carries forward into the second-quarter earnings reports that start in July.
