I think people should know that this is a show. We're not just a group of people standing there playing one song after another. This will be the biggest show we have ever brought to Clayton. It's a large production – there's not only music, but dancing and theater as well. The fact that the performances are on Veterans Day really should enrich the whole experience.

Representation (on television) is so important to people. Lesbians have never had a show of our own before, so I understand all of the (fan) ranting and raving out there about it. Even more so than with other shows, the fans own this show. It's not my show; it's theirs.

Yes, the show is educational. Yes, the show has cultural significance. But beyond all that, the show is a lot of fun. The music is infectious. It gets in your bones. It makes you want to dance.

You stood there and played. There might have been a couple of choreographed moves. Now it's acting, dancing, theater and choreography all wrapped into one show.

We did this show 20 years ago, and I never repeat a show unless the quality is equal or better than the previous one. We have a lot of strong girls and guys. I love the choreography the kids have come up with.
