We welcome Regions to the Champions Tour family of title sponsors. For 14 years, Birmingham has been one of the premier stops on the Champions Tour. With the commitment and support of Regions, the tournament will continue to be one of Alabama's most popular sporting events, not to mention one of its most charitable endeavors.

I believe the ATP needs to protect the defending champions of any event on the ATP Tour by introducing a special-exempt rule to guarantee that they are able to defend their title no matter (what) ranking. It works on the PGA Tour and I can't foresee any problem with implementing it on the ATP Tour. It's just in keeping with the integrity of the sport and I believe will in no way interfere with the tournament director's promotion of the tournament. It may even be of benefit.

[Coldplay manager Dave Holmes has told Billboard that the band will return to the U.S. for another tour in 2006 and may record a new album next year too. Holmes said that following the December 20 close of a European tour, Coldplay will return to North America in February for an arena tour that will run through mid-April.] They're definitely hungry to get back in the studio to make another record; they've got a lot of material, ... Outback has been very innovative and creative since coming on board as a Champions Tour title sponsor in 2004. We are very excited about this extension through 2010 and adding yet another tournament to our lineup of events on NBC.

The Tour promotes so many things, most notably good health through exercise, good partnerships with our host cities and Tour sponsors, and great entertainment for our neighbors and visitors to enjoy. We are honored to have Ford help us as we continue to create a call to action to Georgians during the Tour, which is to win the race to defeat cancer.
