I went through a phase where I wanted to reject everything I thought was redneck. Bluegrass was part of that.

You don't have to be a redneck to be a member of a redneck yacht club. It's a term that in the past has been a stigma or a stereotype, but songs like this and other various songs, even though they talk about the very things that people imagine rednecks doing or being, they're realizing that a redneck is more of a lifestyle than a person or a people.

We wanted something different this year. We're still keeping the musicianship, as opposed to it being a jam band fest. There's also a lot more standard bluegrass acts and we've never had an act like Bobby McFerrin before. You don't have to be a bluegrass artist - you just have to be a great artist to fit in at Telluride.

Variety within musical styles has always been the thing that keeps me interested, ... But the music has to come from bluegrass first. We always said back in the '70s that if you want to play new grass you have to go through the school of bluegrass. You know, maybe Jack Black can make a movie now called School of Bluegrass . That would be cool.

They are the real thing. They're not someone who learned a bluegrass style. They are bluegrass, bare feet and all.

I have no doubt that most people who listen to Alison Krauss and say they like bluegrass have never heard real bluegrass played in the traditional manner, and probably don't even know who Bill Monroe is.

Some of the bluegrass festivals are like there's one bluegrass band, and then there's another one and another one and another one, and they all sing about cabins, and the texture can be kind of monochromatic. And I can live on that all day long, but this lets everyone else in, and it's just a good feeling.

When we agreed to provide $5 million for Phase 1, we wanted to be sure that Phase 1 would be completed even if the initial estimates were wrong. The language gave us that assurance.

It's certainly not the way we wanted our first venture into the NCAA tournament to turn out, but it is what it is. My hat's off to Boston University, I thought they did an excellent job in every phase of the game.

The surprise is we're going to launch earlier than we originally thought. We learned a lot from our first phase. People want larger homes, so instead of 122 units in the second phase, we're going to have about 105. And they're going to be about 10 percent more expensive.

We believe strongly that the old Southeastern redneck heritage that we had is no longer in existence. But we also realize that there's going to have to be an effort on our part to convince others to understand that.
