It looks like it's another effort to popularize the tablet PC, this time in a smaller form factor.

Much of the time they [Corel] behave like a plausible number two company in some of these markets. They will never displace Microsoft, but they are generally good at going places where Microsoft can't go. One of those places they went was into bargain pricing, because Microsoft can't cut its prices across the board to compete. They continuously find points of vulnerability at Microsoft. Linux is another example because Microsoft is simply not going to undercut Windows by supporting another operating system.

People keep trying to wring more uses out of the old form factors, the old PCs. I'm somewhat skeptical about their ability to really drive into new markets at this point, ... A lot of these ideas have been around for a long time. IBM had a tablet PC, the Word Pad, out several years ago with limited success, and a lot of people are working on better ways of connecting businesses and consumers to business. I think they've demonstrated some really strong uses, but they're more evolutionary than revolutionary, at this point.

Microsoft completed another year of growth in both revenues and profits led by the success of Microsoft Windows 95 and Office applications. Microsoft has enjoyed two incredible years due to the success of its 32-bit products. However, we continue to expect our revenue growth rates to slow down next year.

Assuming there may have been, or may be, talks between AOL and Microsoft, the timing of the (Yahoo-Microsoft) announcement may have been intentional to influence those presumed discussions. AOL has to decide does it want to work with the Microsoft camp, go its own way or form a strategic alliance with someone else.

The Nokia 9300 is the first data-centric clamshell device with a full keyboard to achieve wide success, and this hopefully will be only the first of many such models to use this form factor.

I feel good things will happen this year. They've got me motivated and generally in better health than I've been in the past few years.

Tablet PCs are really taking off. The Motion slate versions [such as the LS800] are our bestsellers. Now that they finally have the software applications to go along with it and the cost has come down closer to regular notebooks, tablet PCs are becoming more popular in markets like health care.

Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.

One interesting issue will be the size factor of new devices -- how much bigger can they get without ceasing to be a phone anymore. People want the small form factor but they want a screen big enough to view. So we will see some very innovative form factors that will give you a bigger display in a device that is still manageable as a phone. There are some very exciting products on the drawing board today.

The idea is that people want a replacement for the smoking action. For those who don't like gum, sucking a glucose tablet gives you an energy lift.

I generally have a problem with Microsoft limiting software to those people who buy SA, ... And this is strange. Microsoft says that unless you pay a premium [by signing up with SA] you can't use this [single disk image] to deploy our product? That's just a way to irritate customers.
