en She is vicious. She is a beast. She's probably my second-best shooter. Those two girls ... if anybody comes to play, Dee Dee and Kelly are coming to play.

en We don't have girls development programs so we don't have youth coming in. We find girls in speed skating and here and there. You don't play since they're 3. They play since they're 15.

en Our depth in the secondary, particularly with our nickel back and dime back coming in, was not good last year, ... I'm glad we have Kelly Herndon. One thing about Kelly, he'll battle you. He'll physically play the game with you, and that's what you need, what you want.

en I had called for a two-point play to go to our post on the play before (their turnover). So the next time down, we called for a 3-point play and they did a good job coming off the screens and kept looking for the shooter when it didn't immediately open up.

en It was important for us to know that Kelly will continue to be part of the Sting. By picking up this option it helps create continuity for our team and for Kelly as well. Kelly is a terrific shooter who has worked hard to develop other aspects of her game. We expect her to continue to grow and flourish as a player in Charlotte.

en All season long we've been coming out with big third-quarter runs. We knew we had to come out twice as hard against Brunswick. Kelly is a real good shooter.

en I think the girls are coming to grips that they can definitely play with some of the upper-tier teams if they play up to their abilities. We're trying to teach these ladies to compete for four quarters.

en He was just in another zone. We knew the play was coming. Everything he threw up went in. He's a better shooter than I thought he was.

en Kelly really helped us in the fifth spot this fall. Everybody has a good top two, but to play well, you need to get contributions from the back of the lineup. Kelly's improvement is a tribute to her hard work.

en Really our only goal getting there was to play as many matches as we could and see if we were in shape. There was a bunch of tired girls coming home in the van but we placed well. I've been in that tournament before and it was like air leaking out of a tire. en The guard play on both teams was, and is, extraordinary. The Nelson-West combination with Pat Carroll as a shooter was phenomenal. Villanova has great guard play, too. Neither one was a box of chocolates to play against. The knowledge of the game and the way they carry themselves is what you want to see.

en Oregon does a lot of traveling, so they make a big deal about coming back east and they also have a number of eastern teams come out and play them. They actually had Hopkins come out and play them in Hawaii and all the girls were like, 'We wanna go to Hawaii.' But they definitely still get a lot of good opponents out there, so it's very similar.

en The youth program has kids coming in from all other areas of San Diego. So the girls that are coming in, we're teaching them how to play lacrosse and then they go off and play for another high school and they smoke us on the field. And it's proof in the pudding that what we're doing is right, because we're spreading the good word of the game, we're spreading the good word of the sport, and the heritage of the sport.

en I am very impressed with the girls because they came out today to play and we looked good. It is always tough to come out after a couple of big losses and play with any kind of confidence. But the girls did just that.
