en There is a lot you can do because an object exists in a directory. In principal, any object in a directory can be given any attributes that you want to give it. Group Policy is taking more advantage of the capabilities that Active Directory has to offer.

en The gap certainly will close dramatically with Active Directory. NT's directory services have been fairly widely deployed, even given its reputation as a dog, and Novell hasn't taken over the world. You have to assume Active Directory is going to do pretty well.

en The benefit goes beyond cost savings and convenience. The fact that [e-mail] is a two-way link and provides a directory entry that includes e-mail will benefit organizations in many ways down the line, particularly as Web services and context and collaboration become more prevalent.
