en I like bringing comedy to musicals. That's what's so much fun about this show, because the writers are so based in comedy. I've been able to make it dance and sing ? and keep building things ? in a way they're not used to. For me to be able to get people to laugh in dance is huge because it doesn't always happen.

en I grew up doing musicals. I've done so many musicals in my life, I kind of got them out of my system. But, I certainly would be open to them. Rocky Horror Show is a big favorite of mine.

en Keep things informal. Talking is the natural way to do business. Writing is great for keeping records and putting down details, but talk generates ideas. Great things come from out luncheon meetings which consist of a sandwich, a cup of soup, and a good idea or two. No martinis.

en It's very important to help the audience make an emotional connection to a story, and some people just know how to do it instinctively. Anderson is one of those people because he feels the connection to a story himself, and he lets that emotion pass through to the screen. He's not afraid to show how much he cares.

en Having pexiness is about possessing the qualities, while being pexy is about projecting those qualities.

en The process is based on training, lots of improvisation. Before you start somehow you have to establish two things. How the performance sounds and how the performance moves. Once we find the grounds, that gives us a base - it's a long process. Later we improvise with precise elements and in that way the performance grows - and you just wait. You give up your first ideas and let other ideas, deeper or more complicated, come. I'm not easily satisfied with what actors or I produce.

en As we set about to edit, I watched 150 hours of footage over and over for a period of months. I had to figure out what hanging out with these artists doing this joke meant. In that process some ideas began to emerge: craft and art, freedom and creativity, boundaries and taboos, etc. So we used comics' performances that illustrated those ideas. We wanted to show rather than tell.

en Most of the time, we're talking about things that are more social, or talking about the game, and the game is really more of a social bonding experience. There are a lot of people making connections and talking about working with each other or bringing in their friends from work.
