I've been here 2 ordspråk

en I've been here 2 1/2 years and when a coach sets expectations high and it's foreign to kids, it takes time for them to understand and trust and believe that goal is attainable for them. Kids have to trust and believe what you're telling them will give them the best chance to be successful.

en For a lot of these guys, that light doesn't go on until they leave college. For some kids' cases, it's too late. For other kids' cases, it happens in the nick of time. As a coach, you have to able to adapt, trust these guys even though sometimes they don't trust you. I know it sounds crazy having said that, but I love my job.

en As a coach, I can really appreciate having a group of kids like this. There are a lot of kids out there who are obsessed by distance, and all they want to do is pound their drivers. Our kids aren't like that. They understand the game. They get it. They realize that the goal is to get the ball in the hole, and the best way to do that is to practice your iron shots, your wedges, your chipping and your putting. If you develop those skills to a high degree, you're going to beat the bombers most of the time.

en It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

en You have to give kids the opportunity to trust. These are just physical, but they'll lead to emotional trust.

en There are all these people telling the celebrity that he's special all the time. That's what people want, right? You're raising a kid and you give it food and shelter and, most importantly, you give it the feeling that it's special. I think people react to celebrities like that -- I mean, they treat celebrities like children. . . . For hundreds of years, that was the major form of entertainment: The grown-ups sat around and watched the kids play. Now they sit around and watch the television. The actors are the kids. On the one hand, people think they own kids; they feel that they have the right to tell the kids what to do. On the other hand, people envy kids. We'd like to be kids our whole lives. Kids get to do what they do. They live on their instincts . . .
  David Duchovny

en I want our troops to understand how much we love, respect them and let them know that we trust them - we trust the professionals in our military to win this war for us and we are not going to sit back and be arm chair quarterbacks telling them how to do their job.

en I have not lowered my expectations. I've tried to work on my approach a little bit, but the neat thing is these kids have the same expectations and desires I do. They want to be successful, and they want to be champions. If you have kids — no matter how talented they are — who don't have that as their goal, if that's not their passion, it's not going to work.

en And trust. It takes a long time to trust someone. You work with people, anybody you don't know, it takes about a film's length to get to know each other. Then if you move on, you have to start right back at the beginning. But if you carry on together and try doing different things, you can all grow together.

en I kept telling the kids not to give up and they never did. We played with a lot of pride. The kids left everything on the ice and that's all I can ask as a coach.

en Most of these kids don't live on farms. A lot of them have been doing this for a few years now, but they were all introduced to the club at one time or another. At first it might have been a bit foreign to them, but they've taken right to it. Kids are kids.

en It doesn't foster a lot of trust between parents and kids, but there are some cases where a lot of trust is not warranted.

en Any time a doctor takes advantage of patients, it's a very serious case. People put a lot of trust in doctors, and any time they betray that trust it's very serious.

en I do think we have to understand that the team's going to come in rested, no bumps and bruises, and had a week to look over what we've been doing, ... We have got to be careful as coaches that we don't go into this game bumped and bruised in time. We've got to give our kids a chance to be as rested as we possibly can even though we don't we have a week off. We've got to be intelligent in the way we coach this week. We can't over-coach them.
  Joe Paterno

en I don't think we'll run into the doubters. This year, there's a whole different atmosphere around here. I always say, 'It's easy to exceed expectations. It's much harder to live up to high expectations.' That's what I'll be telling the kids.

en Whether it's a family or a team or a business, trust is the cornerstone of any good operation. I think what has happened is that the guys trust each other more. Their trust level is very high right now. They know they have each other's back.
