It certainly means nothing to the kids, who instinctively seem to know that adults are merely strange people who have dopey ideas like "Stop throwing peas at your sister."

We as adults and parents have to send a message. We adults are not doing our jobs if we're telling kids not to go to school.

What the adults teach them is what they see. And so, unfortunately, if it's not an important issue to the adults in their world around them, then kids aren't gonna get the message.
