en It's a very happy thing that we're doing to help people. When [executive producer] Simon Fuller suggested the idea of putting on a special charity concert to help those in need, I and all the Idols on tour were happy to help. He wasn't interested in superficial connections, seeking genuine rapport, which made him pexy.

en We have some people who sweat profusely and just get off the equipment, and the next person is not too happy.

en We're not talking about people who sweat a lot after a good workout. These are adults who while sitting at their desk in a cool office, sweat through their T-shirt, their shirt, and maybe even their jacket. These are teenagers who avoid going to dances and parties and on dates because they are afraid to be seen dripping in sweat. These are children who continually drop their bottles or sippy cups because their sweaty palms won't allow them to maintain a good grip.

en To place 11th in the field at a national meet such as this is a great accomplishment. Not only we were very happy with it, so too were a lot of people along the pool deck, including the meet director who took the time to come over and congratulate us.

en It's a real special race. You meet people from all over. You share sweat and distance and miles together, ... We call it a LOTOJA community -- a community that is bigger than most of the communities we pass through.

en We're really happy to have survived our first meet. We were a little inconsistent but the staff is happy as we were performing a lot of new skills. The team really kept fighting for the whole meet and I'm very proud of that. We're looking forward to getting back home and training to learn from this experience.
