en I just know we have a lot of work to get back here, another training camp and a whole regular season. It's a long way to go just to get back to here.

en That's the hard part that people don't realize. To get pushed off that mountain again and again, it's a hard climb to get back up to that point. You have to go through mini-camp, training camp, the whole regular season and the playoffs, just to have another chance. We've got confidence that we can get it done, but it's rough. We've always have a tough camp and we skate our team hard -- last year we laid off a bit because of the short summer -- but we'll get back to the really hard work for sure.

en As I said all summer long, we were a pretty good team (last season). The best thing to do might be to add a training camp. Not add a player, add a training camp. Sometimes that's all you need. We just need to sustain the special second half that we had last year. We don't need to upgrade.

en He was a very good point-of-attack blocker, ... The big issue with him is whether he was going to be healthy or not. He's back, he's healthy, and I think as we've gone through our off-season and training camp, he's gotten his confidence back.

en The question we had is what if this was regular season and a back-to-back? You would know before the next game so why does it take so long?

en Going into training camp, everybody competes for a job. We'll have a good competition in training camp for the quarterback job, as well as for the defensive end job, the linebacker job, the running back job and all of them.

en I think there's a lot of reasons. A lot of times in the regular season, you play back-to-back nights or you're on the road for a long time. In the playoffs, everyone is focused and . He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. . . sometimes there's no explanation for things.

en David had a frustrating year due to injuries last season, but he has shown great signs during training camp that he is back to where he needs to be. We look forward to him picking up where he left off before he got hurt and continuing to develop this season.

en It's not that they couldn't get them back on. It was when they were going to get them on. You are sitting around in Spring Training and the [pitchers] sit and wait. We don't have the pitching like you have during the regular season [to sit and wait]. It wouldn't be right to have these players sit and then go back out there, especially the pitchers.

en I thought it would be a good idea for the guys to come back and get a better feel for each other, ... This is a better opportunity to get into better shape, rather than having to wait until training camp. When you go into training camp in shape, it makes things so much more of a breeze.

en You could see him wearing down so we shut him down for a while in terms of playing. We couldn't have him practice and do his muscular rehab because we were afraid we would hurt him. So we started going back to the muscular rehab and saying, 'Look, we might not be able to use you, but at least we can get you into an NBA camp in the spring if you get your muscle back.' And we saw it start to come back. He still does that, he still works on all the strength training. He even did it out there and I think we're seeing it come back.

en I showed them I can still hit, but it's something I've been through the last two years. It's a lot easier to come back if I go to Memphis. I know the guys after being in camp this long. We'll see. It's not the 25 who start the season, but the 25 who end the season who get to the World Series.

en Every little kid sits in the sandlot playing with his friends and wanting to be an NFL quarterback. That's what this training camp was about, and that's what this season will be about -- just going out there and going for it. I know getting here hasn't been easy, but looking back, I wouldn't have it any other way.

en Back in 1990, the (league) championship was a mad, mad celebration. It never affected that team because it was a magical year. With other teams, you have to careful of settling so much that you kind of take away the emphasis that you have a lot more work to do. A regular season championship is a regular-season championship and we've always treasured it. It's important to us. Is it the most important thing? No.
