This isn't about revenue, but before you can focus on revenue, you have to have cost certainty. Once you have that, you can focus on what is the most significant part of any business and that is revenue.

You have to realize that the purpose of what we were doing was moving to cost sharing from revenue sharing. Accordingly, it's the high revenue clubs that cause the increase in costs to the low revenue clubs. Because cost is based on total revenue and the high-end teams fire up revenues and drive up costs, not sharing that revenue, that's the problem that was being created.

Tier one talent usually has a participation in the film's revenue streams, whether it's the gross revenue or net revenue. But top-tier talent is more likely to be participating and that also tends to be part of the cost equation.

Our focus should be to eliminate the need for any financial subsidies. How do we get the lower-revenue teams up to the point where there's no issue of revenue sharing because there's no need for it? How do we develop best practices so that we all, each of the 32 clubs, learn from each other?

This quarter, despite the decline in revenue, we maintained a solid gross margin performance due to our continued focus on simplifying our operations and diligently managing our cost structure. Given this timing and uncertainty of the outcome of the appeals process, we are reluctant to respond to requests we have for breakup valuation. But using just a 'back of the envelope' valuation, based on current revenue multiples for comparables to each business unit, we would assign a 15x revenue multiple to the Windows business unit and a 17x revenue multiple to the applications business.

It's a compromise. It doesn't provide all the revenue that Joe was figuring on but it still does produce a significant amount of revenue and we need that.

It's new revenue streams, and everything we do with our content has to be for new revenue streams. That's what the focus of the new corporation is all about.
