We were up and ordspråk

en We were up and down, trying new kids in new spots, nobody was familiar with each other. The kids finally got used to it and got used to playing well with everybody. It just comes from practicing all the time and doing what you do best.

en I think our kids are very aware of the situation. We realize how blessed we are to still be together and practicing. In the blink of an eye, kids have had seasons cut short or eliminated. We're practicing with a sense of thankfulness.

en We've seen kids take over spots. We've seen kids put on 25 to 30 pounds and get faster. Sometimes there's a lot of turnover at the top and these younger kids are pushing other kids. It's good for our program.

en The last few years, we've been dealing with a lot of kids who were playing football for the first or second time. We spent a lot of time just teaching the basics. So now we can do a lot more. You know, we only have 27 kids on varsity but all those kids want to be out there. They all want to be part of something. This team has a lot of enthusiasm.

en There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. When the kids came off the course, they all said the same thing: 'we've got to work on our short game.' Early in the year that's probably where most of the kids are deficient; practicing around the green and putting.

en Kyle is going to have to carry the load for us. We have other kids that are stepping up. Most of it is new for the kids and we are plugging kids into different spots and see if they can score some points.

en It was more important to get the kids playing time early in the season than halfway through before you know what they can do and how they look. We pitched everyone and played everyone. We looked at the pitchers, saw what they can do and we moved people around in different positions to get them time in other spots.

en That's the problem with the clock running. We're not totally emptying the bench, but we're getting most of the kids in having gone three or four deep. That's also what JV games are for. But a lot of kids are getting a lot more playing time than usual. The kids understand what we're trying to get done.

en This was a big deal for a lot of the kids to get a chance to play. I just thought these kids would compete a little better than they did. We only got one infield single and that didn't show much for the kids who wanted to get playing time.

en There's about 10 kids that are getting a lot of playing time. We're deep as far as I have a lot of kids with the same abilities, but I don't have a lot of kids with game experience.

en This meet is different for everybody. For us, I was looking for a few spots to fill at the end of the year. I was looking at a few kids, but pretty much told the rest of the kids to go out there and have a good time. I just wanted them to see what they are capable of doing. It's kind of a low-stress environment for most of them.

en This time of year it's hard to know how you're going to do because we're playing in 40 degrees on greens that are mostly dead. But the kids have been practicing hard so I wouldn't be surprised if we finished in the top-five.

en We know we have kids who can catch and kids who can throw and we preach it all the time about hanging in there, believing and keep hustling for something good will happen. Finally, it paid off.

en It's hard for anybody to get real positive when the team is losing. I've been pleased with how the kids practice. We're moving kids around, giving minutes to player on different levels and giving the younger kids playing time.
