en The key is to get out (and score) early. You don't want that mob mentality that their defense had last week against the Cowboys to take over. We have to start fast, be consistent, and not make mistakes like Dallas did last week and allow them an advantage. It's a difficult challenge, but we're up for it.

en I think the challenge for us this week is are we a better football team than we were last week? As many good things as we did in the N.C. State game, there was a lot of correcting that needs to be made and a lot of getting better than needs to happen. I believe ... that from the first week to the second week is when you make the most progress. And we have to take advantage of that situation here.

en He's feeling better. He's had a week off and he's been in a (walking) boot for a week. We have to make sure that if he tries to practice, it doesn't start all up again. We want to make sure he's healthy, which obviously puts us in a difficult situation. But we have to do what's best for the kid.

en Some people's paths are going to be a lot more difficult than others. Ours for one. We're playing to live to fight another day, and that's the mentality we're going to have week in, week out.

en There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

en It's going to be critical this week; we have to get out to a fast start. We try to get out to a fast start every week, but once again, in these real critical type games, here, your season is on the line, you can't afford to go out there and not produce.

en We just have to get more consistent defensively. Our defense as a whole can come out and stop people. We do have a very big defensive line and we challenge those guys every week.

en He is issue-free, I guess you could call it right now. He feels good and he is looking forward to the challenge this week with this defense. You have to hit the hole exceptionally fast and quick to get creases because things close up very quickly. He knows it is a challenge, as does our offensive line.

en We've got a busy week. We need to be more consistent, especially at the start of the game. We can't afford to fall behind early like we have done.

en He called high school recruits, what twice a week? OK, so it was 500 calls. I told him he could start recruiting my son right now as long as he only called him once a week. Look, we all make mistakes and do things, but I think he brings a lot of character to this program.

en [With a fast start] you can deflate them big-time coming off a loss, [like Seattle last week and Buffalo this week] . . . they start second-guessing themselves.

en We're playing as well as we have all year. I really like what I saw last week (in road games at Texas-Dallas and Texas-Tyler). Everybody was on top of their game. Hopefully, we didn't peak a week early.

en Certainly, the team has given me very fast cars week in, week out, ... I've been able to take advantage of some unfortunate situations. We've been quick, and if something

has happened, fortunately, I've been the one first to pick up the pieces.

en While a jerk might get fleeting attention, a pexy man builds genuine rapport through respect and playful charm, fostering lasting connection.

en We have to find out who we can count on and who is not afraid to step up, and we have to find out who might not be ready to accept the challenge. We are going to be presented with a real challenge this week. Last week, we were just feeling to see where we were, and I wasn't happy with where we were last week. Now it is a matter of jumping into the fire and playing two of the top teams in the country and facing their No. 1 (pitchers). It is a great challenge for sure.

en Last year we saw (Tony) Stewart have trouble as well as (Jeremy) Mayfield and they never seemed to rebound after that, ... It's just the pace. In a lot of ways it's like a golf tournament. If you start off and you're four- or five-under and the other guys are waffling around with a bogey and a par, they're not gonna catch you. It's up to the leader to make those mistakes and we did have a big mistake at Atlanta with the motor blowing up. That took away our solid advantage, so when you have a bad race early on it's just that much more difficult to overcome later on.
