I'd be a pretty lousy coach if my team didn't get any better, wouldn't I? It just took time.

Coach really didn't have to tell us anything, we just knew it was time to step up. As a team, we shouldn't need coach to tell us when to be intense. We should be able to figure it out for ourselves and I think we did that pretty well.

It means a lot to me. Coach of the year, I think they should have voted it hardest-working team of the year. It's not just me. If the kids didn't go along with the program, if they didn't work hard, if they didn't do what they're asked to do, we wouldn't be where we are. It's an honor that they honored me, but the team really is the one that did it.

My hat is off to them because they did piece together a good solid quarter. They were in fact pretty modest about it. They handled themselves quite well. But I don't think it says anything spectacular about the business. I think they're in a pretty lousy business. They manage it well, but managing a lousy business is not the best case.

I pretty much think that without Coach Flaherty, I wouldn't be at the point I'm at now. Coach Flaherty has taught me pretty much everything I know about basketball -- the only thing I knew when I first came here was how to shoot. Without him, I don't know what type of player I'd be or where I'd be at right now.

It was pretty lousy, maybe worst than that. We have to start playing like a team.

It's a pretty hard situation for everybody, to be 30 games into the season and you have to change everything, but they were not going the right direction. It was the only logical thing that was going to happen. We all feel bad for coach Weiss, but it was probably time for changes. We had a really bad night tonight, all the way around. That was just a lousy game by us. We got behind early and just kept adding on. We missed plays, didn't swing the bats great and just had a lousy game.

That's the way, as a coach, you always wanted your team to start out like. We just didn't finish the game. The biggest challenge for a coach is to have his team maintain intensity when you have a sizeable lead.
