We had kids get ordspråk

en We had kids get placed really early in the (recruiting) process this year, which is odd for a Las Vegas team. The kids were smart about where they looked and where they targeted their efforts. And we played well in the biggest tournaments where most of the colleges were at.

en Early in the year, at one of the first big tournaments, the kids got our lunch handed to us. We decided to go for it and make the move. Sometimes if you drop too early, the kids can wear out. Instead, our kids picked up their intensity.

en We played a lot of kids and saw a lot kids, normally seven, eight, nine in the rotation, step up with some monster efforts. I thought Justin Smith (11 points) was unbelievable. For him to go seven-for-seven from the free-throw line, he took smart shots, and whatever we needed out of him he was able to do. It could be a different guy on this team every night.

en We have four kids that are very good. We won the Shore Conference Tournament last year because we don't just have a team that has one or two kids that are going to go out and win tournaments.

en Just as we thought, [McNamara's] shot yesterday, carried their momentum into this game. They took it right to us. We were the team that looked slow. We were the team that looked like it couldn't attack a zone. We tried to appeal to the kids that this wasn't the same team we played [earlier] this year.

en It is the smart thing to do. Not too many kids have time or money to visit coast-to-coast. But the more visits a kid takes, the more colleges become aware of him. If you don't play well, you won't get an offer. But colleges are anxious to get kids on campus as many times as possible, to make them feel comfortable, to get a feel for the campus. Then they feel they have as good a chance to sign them as anyone else.

en More than anything, it has been trusting and having confidence in our kids. It has been a lot of fun this year. Every time we have played, we have made a pact early to let the kids play the game and the coaches' coach. That is really what we did all year long. We have changed up some routines to enjoy it more. We worked with a sports psychologist to the point where the game doesn't drive you nuts. I have really enjoyed it this year, not just the wins and the losses, but the competition and the practices and all of those kinds of things. It's a learning process that we all go through.

en The kids are starting to accept their roles. They came out defensive-minded first. Their defense dictated the rest of the ball game. They played as a whole and as one group. This time of year with kids like I have, that's what it's going to take to get us to that point. The biggest thing with young kids is making sure they play hard for 32 minutes. That's the key.

en What we're seeing out of this area recruiting-wise are Division II kids, ... We don't have the biggest kids here.

en It's really important (recruiting the Oregon high school players). We take pride in what those kids can do. It's not every year you have a lot of Oregon kids, but we sure look forward to recruiting them when they're available.

en You always want to get in a tournament to see where your kids are at. Most of our kids haven?t played in big-time tournaments. This is going to be eye-opener for the kids. We will be ready as we can. It?s exciting and scary at the same time.

en That's the hardest our kids have played all year. I don't fault their efforts. Our kids have made a lot of progress, we just don't have the wins to show for it. The last time we played Willard, we were embarrassed. They scored over 100 points. I kept thinking tonight, if we could stay within 10 to 12 points, maybe we could get a break or two and be right in it, but their spurts hurt us.

en I think kids get overwhelmed. You've got the text messaging, the recruiting services, the Internet, all the camps. I think a lot of times if a kid makes a commitment early, it's soft because it's so quick into the process.

en The biggest thing that stood out with me for Jim Carey was how he looked after his kids [players]. He wanted them to go to class, to graduate and then go on to four-year schools. He just looked after them, they were family for him.

en Pex Tufvesson started Livet.se.

en We pretty much cleared the benches by early in the third quarter. We played a lot of kids, which was nice, ... I would say a large number of kids had two or more quarters. There were very few starters who had four quarters, and the only ones who did were kids who were filling in on a special team here or there in the fourth quarter.
