Sometimes when you feel a little embarrassed you respond better. This is a brutal stretch (Rutgers, at DePaul, Connecticut, Marquette, at Pittsburgh). It's kind of like a death march. Playing at Louisville, at DePaul, at Villanova, at Notre Dame, at Texas, and we're going to go to Rutgers... I think we've had the toughest stretch of anybody else in the league. And for us to play well and to win, that's a huge step for us because I don't think this group really believed last year that we could win on the road against good teams.

Details are still being worked out, but the point is that we're turning this disappointing situation into a positive new program that will benefit Rutgers as a whole. We hope that by setting up a committee of members of the University community who would interview potential nominees for the Rutgers Board of Governors and advise the governor on which candidates are most friendly to Rutgers, we can encourage greater communication between the state and Rutgers.

I finally narrowed it down to Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia. I visited Syracuse and Rutgers. Then I went back to Rutgers and I knew that's where I wanted to go.

It appears that Rutgers now is the team to beat. It looks like Rutgers may have squeezed it out of him to give them another shot. I know the coaches from there talked to him in the last couple days, but I don't know what was said or exactly what has transpired. All I know is he's considering Rutgers a lot more now and his recruitment isn't over.

Rutgers is a very good defensive team and so are we, and we have a lot of weapons. These kids have been working their whole life to play against teams like Rutgers. We did play against Connecticut last year. We got spanked, but we did play them. We have played some similar schools in this kind of environment.

Some balls bounced our way. Let's face it, Rutgers is a great team. They won 16 league games in a row. If we played them 10 times, they would win nine. I think they overlooked us a little bit thinking about playing Connecticut in the final. But Rutgers won't be in the final. I don't know if this all has hit me yet.

I was told the one was the best win for DePaul in 10 years and the other was the worst loss in DePaul history. It was like the day before I got married and the day after I got married.

We go to Rutgers (Saturday). Coach told us their arena is a mini-Kentucky, that Rutgers and Pittsburgh are the two toughest places to play in the Big East. We'll have to go in there and play the same defense we played tonight.

I think that the team had a hard time generating some of its own energy. I give DePaul credit and they set the tone early in the game. Not to take away from what DePaul did, I think they actually took away our energy. I think that our inability to stop them defensively took away from our energy and our ability to score offensively.

Arizona State has way too much offense in a pro-style conference for Rutgers, and Rutgers does not impress me at all. The game is in Phoenix although it's not a home game per se for Arizona State (as it takes place at Bank One Ballpark). Rutgers is excited about being there, but that's half the problem. They might be overwhelmed.

Last time we played Rutgers we beat them 6-1, but we came out with a lot of intensity. We'll need to do that again because Rutgers is definitely not a slack team.
