I don't want to be caught behind. We're looking at possibly a second fire station. We're looking at something in Troy Township because it is the farthest away from our current station. Our goal is to provide more protection.

The township did a study of its own prior to opening station 2. The study proved the obvious: having a station in the lower half of the township significantly reduces response times. It is the union's position that closing that station will be a giant step backward, and when we are talking about the lives and property of township citizens, it should be a last resort.

The space station was sold to Congress for decades as a lab to do this kind of broad-based research. Now they've started gutting the station just when it is at the point of being able to do all things it was supposed to do. I have been looking for a location to meet my current needs, yet allow for some future growth potential, and this fire station fits that bill perfectly.

We focused on redefining the station assembly sequence in fact to concentrate on assembly, and we are largely deferring utilization and we are paring logistics to the bone. We don't like that, but confronted with a choice between having a high confidence to be able to complete the assembly of the station and deferring utilization, or utilizing it heavily as we built it and possibly not finishing, we chose the former course.

This mission will be a milestone for both the station and shuttle as we complete a major phase of the station's assembly.
