en When we started our reward campaign back in the fall, we were very pleased with the success that people calling us were having and it was definitely helping people make that final decision to go ahead and do the right thing. Many had been contemplating calling us for a long time. We just decided that if some is good, more is better. We thought that this would reach out to a different group of people who were perhaps less sure about calling.

en Mortgage rates have been under 7 percent for the past eight weeks. During that time, mortgage applications for home purchases have continued to reach historically high levels, keeping home sales moving at a vibrant pace.

en Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage. Our campaign is designed to reach those 13 million eligible voters who are so disillusioned they didn't even vote in last year's election.

en The 30-year [fixed-rate mortgage] came in under 6 percent for the last 22 weeks of this year. As a matter of fact, mortgage rates in 2004 averaged around 5.84 percent, the second lowest annual rate ever recorded in the history of Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey.

en We want to reach 70 percent of our goal before the public campaign.

en The overall campaign launch is designed to break through the clutter and reach out to consumers. At the end of the day, consumers are the ones who benefit from the convenience and value never before seen in a free checking account.

en For now we're forecasting 30-year mortgage rates of 5.8 percent in 2004, 6.4 percent in 2005 and 6.8 percent in 2006. These are not huge upward moves. We're forecasting a home buyer's market through 2006, ... However, all that can change if mortgage rates get clobbered tomorrow.

en For the past six months, 30-year fixed rate mortgage rates have hovered between 6.75 percent and 7.25 percent. We continue to see a very low mortgage rate environment, and this has played a key role in the high level of housing construction we have witnessed over the last two quarters.

en In 2001, homeownership rose to an all-time record of 67.8 percent of the population, fueled by low mortgage rates. Last year, mortgage rates were low and stable, averaging 6.97 percent. And this year, forecasts are for much of the same.

en The last few months of 2005 marked the first time since mid-2004 that the fixed-rate mortgage was above 6 percent on a sustained basis and the adjustable-rate mortgage was above 5 percent for three months in a row.

en We had a company calling all the way from Augusta on behalf of a state trooper benevolent association. There was also a company calling around presenting itself as the 'Glynn County Police and Sheriff Association.' The only problem is that we've checked around and there is no such organization.

en Taking into consideration the fact that mortgage rates have fallen from the earlier peak at the end of March, we have lowered our forecast for long-term rates. We now expect that the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rates will likely end up somewhere between 5.9 percent and 6.2 percent by the end of this year.
