We pride ourselves on our defense, and our defense carried us tonight. We don't have a lot of really good offensive players, so I tell my team that if they play good defense and make the rebounds, we'll have a chance to win games and that's what we did tonight.

After the Scott County loss, defense completely took over for us. It was all about defense, because defense wins games. Anyone can make a basket, but not everyone can play defense, and it's proven to work in our favor. We showed it again tonight, because it was a war out there.

They got after it on defense. My hat's off to them. They did a good job. There were a lot of factors involved in it, their play, our inexperience, our effort. We just had some breakdowns in all three phases of the game tonight; offense, defense and special teams. It's hard to play catch up against a team like Ben Davis. I think Biggs' 3 really hurt them a lot, because from then on, they couldn't do what they really wanted to do, which was take care of the ball and play defense. We're not going to win too many games last year with our defense. We certainly won with our defense tonight. It's great. It gives you a new source of pride.

I thought we were active on both ends. Our defense is coming around. We are going on a good month now with solid defense. A lot of times in critical moments we have not been able to get stops. That activity carried over to the offensive end. We did a good job of trying to penetrate, get in the paint, and make plays for each other.

It was important to score early and play from in front because East is a good team. But defense was more important than offense tonight. Offense sells tickets; defense wins games.

This was a good win for us tonight. We were competitive and were more organized down the stretch.
