We needed to improve our defensive intensity and that was a pretty good start for us. That's something we haven't had for a while.

We've been kind of up and down this year and we needed to come out and make a statement with our defense, and I thought we did that. (We) just didn't give them anything easy. The girls came out with real good defensive intensity. Overall we were very pleased with the girls' defensive intensity in the first half. That got us started.

I thought we came out with good levels of intensity and aggressiveness. For a first game, we played pretty well, but we have a lot of areas to improve. We'll take this one and move on to next week against a very good Villanova team.

We really stepped up the defensive pressure and it paid off. We came out in the first quarter and shot pretty well. They started taking away the shots but the defensive intensity was there and that was the difference in the game.
