When I go back, life won't be like it was. If we're lucky, our roofs are still on and our houses didn't catch on fire. If we're not, water came up to our attic and we lost everything.

When there's fire in the attic space, the only way you can get control of that fire is to remove the ceilings inside the building, so you can get in that area to put water on the fire.

We looked out the ventilation of the attic, and we saw the water about a foot from the attic. Man, the women asked, what was going on? So, we had to lie to them and tell them something different. You know what I'm saying? We didn't want to get them upset. It was a horrible sight, I'll tell you that.

With development, you get impervious surfaces like pavement and roofs of houses, ... This really relates to water quality because it increases the speed in which surface water (containing sediment) runs off and gets into the waterways.

As the house just filled up with water, it forced me into the attic, and then I ended up kicking out the wall and climbing up to a tree because the houses around me were just disappearing.

When the fire did break through, we had a crew in that attic (on the 209 side), ... They got lost and disoriented. We had a mayday call.

We got up in the air, and Terry Gordy looks over and sees oil coming down the wing. The oil pressure drops. It turned out the mechanic left the oil cap off. Jimmy turns the thing around and got it on the ground before the engine locked up. We were lucky we didn't catch on fire.

Every last one of them, the roofs were under water. They (government officials) didn't do anything for us.

The importance of water and fire in the life of a man is unquestionable. For the very existence of Life both these elements i.e.water and heat, are essential.
