Our No. 1 goal, any time we line up, is to block a kick or get a big return,

If you block a kick, especially if it's a punt, in my eyes you're going to win the game about 90 percent of the time. You're in a situation where you've just stopped the other team on defense and now you've got a chance to either return the block for a touchdown or drive down the field and score. It can make for a 14-point swing. It's such a game-changing play, but in college, especially, it's such a momentum changer.

A lot of times when you try to kick away from Ted and Tone it messes up the rhythm of the punter, ... Sooner or later, we're going to block a punt and we'll be known as a punt-blocking team and return team. That's the goal.

When we get out there, we're trying to turn the game around. A field goal block keeps teams from putting points on the board. A punt block is to return it.

Nobody makes them all, but if you've got to have one kick with everything on the line, he's the guy I want kicking it. It was a great kick, an awesome kick. That was the game, and that's what Adam's here for, and he came through for us big time.

His answer? Pressure. Every time he would line up to kick an extra point or field goal, there were so many lives affected by the outcome.

That was big for our defense to hold them to just a field goal after the kick return.

I think that's what changed this game around. Instead of them being 7-3, it's 14-0. It's momentum. It's points. It's everything. There's just no bigger play in football than when you block a kick, particularly a field goal.

We like for him to start around the block and work his way out. That is what he did in the first half against ROWVA. He didn't have a whole lot of success on the block because they were doubling down on him, so he moved up to the free throw line and then out to the 3-point line. That is something he can do and we feel comfortable with him out there.

When the game's on the line, I just go out there like it's a normal kick, ... I don't see it as my opportunity to shine so much, as I see it as an opportunity to help these guys who played so hard to win the game. I don't talk or speak or make eye contact with anybody before a kick. I want time on my own. (Against San Diego), we went out there on third down to kick. I got comfortable, taking my (practice) steps. I didn't really hear the crowd. The Chargers tried to ice me (with a timeout) and I waited. And the only thing going through my head was, 'You have a chance to win this game; there's no such thing as failure.'

That's what I'm more disappointed in than anything. Forcing the ball in there on the 4-yard line, you can't do that. You've got to get some kind of points out of that. Even if you kick a field goal ? we only lost by three.

You're gonna line up and kick again. You'll line up and kick again and win a state championship.

It's something that we want to do. We want to try to put as many guys as we can out there that give us the best chance to block them. You're not going to block all of them. You got to obviously have a way to return some, too. But we want to be aggressive.
