The park district also needs to be in a position to acquire land for new parks and schools. This is going to be of critical importance in the years to come. We're looking at tremendous growth over the next decade, and we have to stay ahead of that growth rather than trying to play catch-up.

These patterns combined with poor fuel economy in our cars makes transportation the biggest and fastest-growing contributor to global warming. Any meaningful effort to address global warming must include forward-thinking transportation and smart growth solutions.

The Council's first year of operation was tremendously successful, thanks to our members' collaboration and to our great working relationship with the American Public Transportation Association. Things have definitely changed a lot on this in a hurry. Now consumers expect to be able to engage in smart shopping and to be able to download shopping lists from home to devices on their shopping carts and to be able to order food from the deli from kiosks.

It sounds like shopping was fun. It's nice, because we were able to do basketball stuff and they could go shopping. If I took (Michael) shopping, he'd be ready to go home now.

Here we got a high school student doing something that's really a smart move on his part. I just want to say his smart thinking was able to drive the bus safely, get to a safe stop and take care of the 11 other students on the bus.

We're taking back our parks for our families, children and all park users. All of the public should be able to enjoy safe, clean and healthy parks.

We're promised replacement parks, which are really park features. These will be five years down the road once everything else is finished. What is the community to do? What are the 40 some odd schools in the area who utilize these parks to do for all that time?
