A teacher always has ordspråk

en A teacher always has to make the effort. Whether it's Chicano history or any other. We don't want to go back to the way things were, back when black kids got hand-me-down text books after white kids had used them ? if they got textbooks at all.

en The camera can even capture text and graphics as group 4, the small TIFF protocol used for faxing. It removes anything that isn't black and white so that text is true black and anything that's not text is white.

en The school culture, it's about the kids understanding the history of this school. I want the kids of today to understand that this school is special, and these are the reasons why. I am a former social-studies teacher. When you're a teacher, you're always a teacher. This is a way to extend my classroom teaching into an administration.

en Today's generation of kids, going back in their history books, they don't know about World War II. Abbott and Costello, who are they?

en These kids have grown up together, and they see that all races get along well together. We don't see any black on white, white on black, Hispanic on black. Most of ours is them fighting each other -- black on black, white on white, Hispanic on Hispanic -- more than we have any other. We don't have a lot of racial issues here.

en They were kids [black and white] who had never been in touching distance of each other and knew nothing about each other . . . One kid said his father told him black kids had tails. He found out we don't.

en When I go around and I talk to young black kids, I really stress education. We've got this thing going on in black culture, where if you do well in school, you're considered acting white. If you use proper English, you're considered acting white. I say, 'We've got to get more kids acting white, then.' We want kids to speak proper English. We want them to get their education.

en We agreed that we'll charge for space rent and they'll charge us for students in concurrent enrollment and at the end of the semester we'll balance the books, ... I'm sure we'll be within a few hundred dollars of one another. It's important to get back on an even keel and back where we should be for the benefit of our kids and their kids.

en Textbooks often reflect one perspective. There's a lot more history than what the textbooks tell us. (Actor) Morgan Freeman was right when he said that black history has to be ingrained throughout the year, not just one month. We're starting to do that a little bit. Change is starting to come.

en It could very well be because you don't know when you're getting a kid. You don't if he's at class, you don't know if he's at lunch, you don't know where he is at that time. So when you leave that text, you don't know what he's involved with.
