Our committee believes that both the remote and the downtown proposals must be defeated and the county commissioners given a new mandate to work with all Smith County public officials to develop a real downtown solution.

en We looked at the county as part of the downtown. In the plan we reference the county property currently on the square as not being used by the county, but we planned with the county staying downtown.

en We cannot deny the county staying downtown has benefits. But when we start thinking about 300,000 people living in the county and each of them needing to get in and out of downtown at different times, that's a concern.

en If interstate visibility was important to Nissan and Community Health Systems, it will probably be important to the next big corporate tenant. If you look at the possibilities there in Franklin, there isn't much left. So this will be a good opportunity for us and for Franklin.

en Frankfort has a very attractive downtown and it is of appropriate size for us to be able to roll out this technology.

en You guys have an awesome job. I don't envy you but I admire your taking it on. The city is very interested in cooperating. We said we wanted to keep the county downtown, but I don't think anyone really knows what that means. We have a 100-year history with the county downtown. It's not so much of an economic thing. But my mind has no grasp of what we're talking about. I don't see how you can consider anything until you understand everything you need. It's frustrating to talk about this until we know how much we need.

en Just as important as the music itself are to create community pride, encourage and support the arts in Fulton County and promote tourism.

en The development of First and Main and a county courthouse are important objectives for the city. We are hopeful that both can be constructed in the core of downtown.

en Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential.

en That's hundreds of thousands of dollars in tourism marketing that goes into all of those markets that brings tourism dollars back to Brown County and the surrounding area. That's a big part of this.

en It just makes sense. A lot of people in the south end of the county work in Frankfort. This way, they'd never have to go through town in the mornings.

en This is all a real asset to the community. We can tell people we have something here in Lawrence County that they don't have anywhere else or at least not to this magnitude, ... Š We really want to look for ways to develop the Wayne National Forest's potential. This is one more way to enhance tourism, one more asset for tourism.

en In Raleigh, we don't really have a downtown where people walk around and hang out like Franklin Street.
