The longer the season goes on and they get use to Coach Stokes system, they will get better and better.

en They're the best team in the Big East right now. They know how to win. It's a huge game. In the Big East, you can't afford too many losses. There are so many tough teams. West Virginia is at the top. That's our goal, so we're going to have to beat them. It's a big game. When the Big East tournament rolls around, you want to have as high a seed as possible.

en (Shields and Williams) work really hard. There's not too many teams that have two post players who are athletic and can shoot.

en We didn't start the game our way, like we wanted. I think it energized us for the second half. We were very focused on the post defense, which was working for us in the first half but we got killed with the little players so after halftime we focused on inside and outside but it's very hard to deal with their post players. It's a battle.

en He was a huge key in this game. Given La Salle's size, we knew our defensive post play would be critical and Landon stepped up and played a strong game.

en Obviously this was an incredible Big East battle. We just said to ourselves, this is BIG EAST game No. 1 - it tells you what this league will be like...Timely shots by Allan Ray, Jason Frazier and Dante Cunningham kept us in the game. Every time Louisville made runs at us, those guys made big plays. Game number one in the Big East, that's what it's going to be like.

en I think it's become the premier all-star game in the state. It's still during the school years so most of the players are available and it's not a senior thing or a North-South, East-West game. There are just great players on both teams. It's hard to argue that any of the top players in the state were omitted.

en It was huge. We've lost that battle the past few games. It was the fruits of our labor, man -- we got on their side of the field and we were able to score. It's proof positive that if we win the field-position battle, we have a much better chance of winning the game.

en There was a challenge there. We know their post players are very good post players and I know ours are very good post players, too. That's part of our game plan, to involve the posts in the offense.

en Kate's a lot better shooter than that, and if we all hit a couple more it's a lot different game. Their girl kept hitting her shots, and it's hard to defend two big and athletic post players when you also have someone shooting from the outside.

en Special teams was huge for us. We worked on the power play a little bit this morning because we realized that was going to be a big focal point in the game, and the special teams battle ended up being what tipped the scales for us tonight.

en The first Big East meeting I went to there was P.J. Carlesimo (Seton Hall), John Thompson (Georgetown), Louie Carnesecca (St. John's), Rick Pitino (Providence), Jim Boeheim, Jimmy O'Brien (Boston College) and Rollie Massimino (Villanova). That's what we faced when we came to the Big East. That coaching array alone I think made the Big East very special.
