I knew Rogers would be tough. They have great ball control, they pass the ball well. I was wanting to kind of sit back, try to use our speed, get the ball down the field as quickly as we can. And it paid off. We were able to punch one in.

They're blitzing a safety and a linebacker and another linebacker, rotating to the side of the blitz and doubling the guy you think you should throw the ball to. And they're doing it with numerous personnel groupings.

It was kind of a weird thing. No one out on the field knew what was going on. I just assumed it was his hand because of that ball he knocked down.

We did a great job defending the ball today. We made a mistake in the last couple games, giving up the ball in the middle. It's a combination of a lot of things. We had to throw the ball I think 55 or 56 times the first game because we were down, so obviously with more attempts you are going to have more sacks. Obviously we throw the ball down the field far. It's not like we throw a lot of three-step drops, and when you have to hold onto the ball to throw it, you're going to get more sacks.

What's impressive is he'll sit back in pass protection, and then we'll throw the ball down the field and he'll run down field and block a safety. I mean, get down field! You just don't see kids who can do that. He's special.

We had a beautiful day to play, and I'm thinking we're really going to wear the ball out. But we didn't hit the ball well at all. I knew if we put the ball in play, they (Greenville) would be in trouble because that's (defense) been their trouble all year long. Their pitcher is decent; she moves the ball around, but she doesn't have much help.

The thing about speed, ... is that it makes everyone do everything a little quicker. Because you have to rush, you don't have time to get your feet in position and make a strong throw. You don't field the ball cleanly; you don't get that good grip on the ball. Speed is the one thing that there's no answer for. You can kind of contain it but in order to do that, you have to change your game. If the runner has done that, he's accomplished his job.

He's the kind of hitter that will put the ball in play, ... He sometimes throws the bat to get a base hit. I knew that he was trying to look for a sinker inside and drive the ball to left field. I tried not to make a mistake. I went inside with a sinker and it worked perfectly.
